Why do you do a subject like movement and how does it benefit the child?
The Waldorf Steiner approach uses rhythm and movement exercises as an important teaching tool as it is seen as a necessary element in learning. The activities used in movement classes which includes the use of balls, bean bags, skipping ropes, hoops etc. help to develop gross and fine motor skills, balance, co-ordination and concentration within a child. It also aids self-confidence and the ability to work in a team. Some learning barriers are detectable through the use of movement and can therefore be remedied accordingly.
